So Week 1 Base Training is in the bank and the body is loving it... I also got a chance to spend a little time with family!
After not really giving much time for family since moving out I decided it was time to take out the little brothers for abit of fun. After completing my morning session on sunday I picked up my 3 little brothers mitchell 12, Kane 10 and Cody 6. I took them for a suprise game of mini Golf at the Botanic Gardens in Wanneroo. I dont think i have to say it but being 3 boys it was game on as soon as the car was parked. The first hole mitchell and kane were already finding other uses for their golf club and how usefull it was to put each other off. By the 18th cody had learned how to count how many shots he had... (his rule was divide actual shots by 2= score). We then went and had some lunch before dropping them off. It was a fun day and has taught me that family time is essential no matter how busy you are. Thanks little bro's for a great day!
So onto Training for the week...
Itstarted with monday jumping back in the pool at melville aquatic with Endurance Fitness coached by Brian Kempson. A tough set was put on the table getting the lungs kicking again. Then followed by a recovery run in the afternoon.
Tuesday was a ride getting back on the road for the first time since the accident. My 2 housemates were full of support with toms comment "im going for a nap if you get hit by another car im turning my phone off but leave a message". Great housemate huh... I ended up getting a solid 2.5 hr ride out which was much more pleasant than my wind trainer sessions the week before.
Wednesday am i was back in the pool. Brian chucked me in the lane with all the rotto swimmers. Another tough set with some long distance efforts and a few 50's in the middle. In the afternoon it was run time. My first run without any structural pain which left me smiling for the rest of the day.
Thursday am was a brick set with a few strength endurance efforts on the bike a steady solif run off the bike.
Friday = Double Swim day. Im beginning to think my coach Tim Reed is trying to kill me with pull and paddles haha Yes it is making me stronger but killing me at the same time.
Saturday was back to the usual long raffles ride with johan, helen and andy. I was looking forward to it but knew it was going to be a killer day. A lesson was also learnt to not forget sunscreen... Leaving me to sport a gnarly Jersey Tan!
Sunday and its Brick/Double run day. An easy ride round the river in the morning with a run off the bike and then a run in the Afternoon.
After a good week it was time for Massage day! I booked myself a massage with Sue at "SPORTREAT". my first massage with this lady and I will definitly be going back. If your looking for a good massage hit up "SPORTREAT" by clicking on their logo on my blog. They also provide great physio therapy which has helped my get back on the track alot faster.
So its on to week 2 of the Base training now and looking forward to another good week. To all those racing at Perth Olympic Distance this weekend have a good race and i'l cya down there... :)
