Nespresso Me Up! and Perth Olympic Champs

Perth Olympic Distance Triathlon

Well after being injured and deciding not to race in the Perth OD Champs a great deal came on the table to allow me to compete in a team with Matt Illingworth and Cody Angell.

The race is this sunday morning at Langley Park in the City and is lined up to be a great day with professional athletes Luke McKenzie and Kate Bevilaqua to heat up the fields.

Our team lineup will be
1.5km Swim = Myself
40km Ride = Matt Illingworth
10km Run = Cody Angell

Not have raced in a team before it will be a good change letting me go all out in the swim and not worrying about saving any energy for the other two legs and watching the other two lads belt it out.

With Matt being one of the fastest age group riders in Perth and Cody being a verry strong runner from america I am sure we will put out a dominating time to see us on the podium.

Nespresso Me Up!

Well its official... I am a coffee addict!
Yesterday I became a proud owner of a Delonghi Nespresso EN680M.

Its a little beast of a machine thats already pumped out a few coffees to give me a little kick in the morning to start the day. It works with little special coffee capsules that come in all sorts of flavours to test the taste buds. So far I have had the Vivalto Lungo and Finezzo Lungo capsules. Theres another 14 flavours to try still and after those two im already impressed.
The best thing is I purchased it at a bargain price of $680 when it retails for $799! The Good Guys in O'Connor price matched http://www.applianceonline.com/ which made me a happy kid :)
It now sits nicely nesteled next to our other awesome maching the

Breville Fountain Plus Juicer

This kitchen appliance has been getting a flogging by myself and fellow Triathlete/Housemate Tom Bakowski.

This Juicer has made all sorts of juice from beetroot to pinapple. Its definitaley a crowd pleaser when guests come over n makes an awesome rattle at 5am to wake up all the neighbours.
So far my favourite goes to orrange and carrot juice.
Having an intolerance to a thing called FODMAPS which limits my fruit options by not being able to have watermelon, apple and peaches to just name a few of a long list. Orrange and Carrot not only tastes awesome but provides me with plenty of vitamins.

I find that by having a fresh juice everyday its also helped my body cut down the fat percentage to lean me up! Definitaley a good buy and should be an item in every persons kitchen!

Back to BASEicks and Family Fun

So Week 1 Base Training is in the bank and the body is loving it... I also got a chance to spend a little time with family!

After not really giving much time for family since moving out I decided it was time to take out the little brothers for abit of fun. After completing my morning session on sunday I picked up my 3 little brothers mitchell 12, Kane 10 and Cody 6. I took them for a suprise game of mini Golf at the Botanic Gardens in Wanneroo. I dont think i have to say it but being 3 boys it was game on as soon as the car was parked. The first hole mitchell and kane were already finding other uses for their golf club and how usefull it was to put each other off. By the 18th cody had learned how to count how many shots he had... (his rule was divide actual shots by 2= score). We then went and had some lunch before dropping them off. It was a fun day and has taught me that family time is essential no matter how busy you are. Thanks little bro's for a great day!

So onto Training for the week...

Itstarted with monday jumping back in the pool at melville aquatic with Endurance Fitness coached by Brian Kempson. A tough set was put on the table getting the lungs kicking again. Then followed by a recovery run in the afternoon.
Tuesday was a ride getting back on the road for the first time since the accident. My 2 housemates were full of support with toms comment "im going for a nap if you get hit by another car im turning my phone off but leave a message". Great housemate huh... I ended up getting a solid 2.5 hr ride out which was much more pleasant than my wind trainer sessions the week before.
Wednesday am i was back in the pool. Brian chucked me in the lane with all the rotto swimmers. Another tough set with some long distance efforts and a few 50's in the middle. In the afternoon it was run time. My first run without any structural pain which left me smiling for the rest of the day.
Thursday am was a brick set with a few strength endurance efforts on the bike a steady solif run off the bike.
Friday = Double Swim day. Im beginning to think my coach Tim Reed is trying to kill me with pull and paddles haha Yes it is making me stronger but killing me at the same time.
Saturday was back to the usual long raffles ride with johan, helen and andy. I was looking forward to it but knew it was going to be a killer day. A lesson was also learnt to not forget sunscreen... Leaving me to sport a gnarly Jersey Tan!
Sunday and its Brick/Double run day. An easy ride round the river in the morning with a run off the bike and then a run in the Afternoon.

After a good week it was time for Massage day! I booked myself a massage with Sue at "SPORTREAT". my first massage with this lady and I will definitly be going back. If your looking for a good massage hit up "SPORTREAT" by clicking on their logo on my blog. They also provide great physio therapy which has helped my get back on the track alot faster.

So its on to week 2 of the Base training now and looking forward to another good week. To all those racing at Perth Olympic Distance this weekend have a good race and i'l cya down there... :)

Back On The Track

After 1week on crutches and a total of 2weeks on the couch with countless physio sessions I am happy to be back on the training track :)

With Singapore 70.3 only 8 weeks away I am confident that I can still build a good base to be competitive against my fellow competitors. After having the time off and getting a little frustrated with not being able to do anything it has made me more hungry for success than ever!

However with my time off putting my fitness out it has left me to not compete in the Perth Olympic Distance Championship next weekend, but i am looking forward to travelling down to Albany for the Olympic distance race which is 2 weeks pre singapore. Albany will be a good hit out giving me a heads up on how the body is and what needs quickly tuning.

I would like to say a big thanks to Nick Garland @ "GARLAND CYCLEWORKS" for sorting out all the bike needs. The good thing about getting an insurance cheque is that you get to purchase a new bike :) hopefully my new Specialized Tarmac will be arriving in the coming week.

So enough talking and time for training to get this body back to peak performance.

Stay tuned for next post on monday

First Post

2011 is here and with my new coach Tim Reed I am looking for some big results to really get things kicking!

With a quick Christmas break I found myself back on the track under going an awesome program provided by my new coach Tim Reed.
I was quick to find out that... Yep its Base training time! With not really having a propper base in 2010 I was really looking forward to see what I can achieve this year. Looking at the first weeks schedule my eyes were popping out of my head but I was keen and focused. However things don't always go to plan and unfortunately on the wednesday I was struck by a car door putting me in the emergency ward... Fortunately there was nothing broken however I recieved a dislocated hip and a few haematomers. This has postponed my training by a few weeks but with he help of "SPORTREAT" looking after my physio and doctor needs, I am looking forward to getting back on the track again and re starting my base block asap.

2010 Results
After competing in 4 half ironman events throughout Australia I gained a total of 378 points which rewarded me with 2nd Place in the Australian Half Ironman Series 18-24 Age Group. For my first long course season I am verry happy with my results and progress. Hopefully with this I will qualify for the 2011 ITU World Championships in Las Vegas Nevada.

Cheers
